From 20 March 2015 to 3 April 2015，Prof.Giuseppe Marano from Technical University of Bari, Italy and Prof. Giorgio Monti from La Sapienza University, Italy as well as Hunan University, China visited our SIBERC. Some wonderful lectures have been given by them. In the afternoon of 25 March, Prof. Giuseppe Marano gave a lecture on the topic of "Structural Optimization" and Prof. Giorgio Monti gave a lecture on the topic of "Reliability of Structures" for postgraduate students of SIBERC. On 27 March, Prof. Giorgio Monti gave a lecture with the title of "Seismic retrofitting of a strategic building through base isolation and translation" for undergraduate students from College of Civil Engineering, Fuzhou University.

During their stay in SIBERC, they paid a visit to the laboratories of our college as well as some bridges designed by SIBERC in Fuzhou University and discussed with our professors by exchanging ideas and exploring potential cooperation fields in the near future. In order to promote the academic exchanges and cooperation between Fuzhou University and Technical University of Bari, external expert agreement was signed by Prof. Giuseppe Marano and SIBERC. We all believe that it will push forward the development of civil engineering. Prof. Giuseppe Marano also provided a useful self-programmed software PROVER beta for free.（Software for design and assessment of reinforced concrete sections, including ductility check. Prof.Giuseppe Marano is a full time professor at the Department of Architectural and Civil Engineering Science, Technical University of Bari and a visiting professor of Hunan University. He is a consultant on analysis and design of steel-concrete structures for Metal.Ri snc and a consultant on structural optimization for Soft.Lab - software partnership as well as a consultant on bridges vulnerability analysis with IGEP srl. His main research topics are on random vibrations, seismic engineering, structural optimization, structural identification, concrete technology, uncertainty in structural analysis and soft computing in structural design; He has about 50 papers published on the international journals. He has lots of research projects as main investigator/scientific leader. For example: He is the principle investigator of research contract: "procedure di calcolo, verifica edottimizzazione delle tipologie speciali ed ordinarie di travi reticolari miste (analysis, verification and optimization of ordinary and special mixed steel/concrete reticular beams)". Project funded by metal.ri snc for 105,000,00€.
