September 21, 2014 to September 24, 2014 , Professor Chen Baochun, Professor Ji Tao and Dr. Huang Qingwei participated the 6th International Conference of Asian Concrete Federation, ACF2014. The conference is held every two years, and this time the Chairman of the conference was Professor Jongsung Sim of Hanyang University.
The conference was jointly organized by the Asian Concrete Federation and the Korea Concrete Institute. The participants came from 38 different countries. The proceeding collected 261 articles and included some corresponding reports. The keynote speakers were Professor Tamon Ueda, chairman of the Asian Concrete Federation, Professor James K.Wight, chairman of the American Concrete Institute, President Gordon Clark, chairman of the International Federation for Structural Concrete, and Professor Mark Alexander, chairman of (the International Union of Laboratories and Experts in Construction Materials, Systems and Structures.
September 22, 2014, Professor Chen Baochun made the invited talk, entitled "EXPERIMENTAL STUDY ON ULTIMATE LOAD-CARRYING CAPACITY OF UHPFRC ARCHES". It introduced UHPFRC’s applications in bridge, and elaborated the research on ultimate bearing of UHPFRC bridge, pointing out the UHPFRC ‘s big potential in bridge engineering applications. Professor Ji Tao made his presentation, entitled "Study for chloride diffusion coefficient of reactive powder concrete based on artificial neural network" .
September 23, 2014, Dr. Huang Qingwei made the report, entitled "Trial-design research on reactive powder concrete pedestrian bridge" , indicating the UHPFRC ‘s advantage in footbridge applications.
September 24, 2014, Chen Baochun and others visited the College of Architecture and Civil Engineering, Seoul National University, where the visitors and the hosts discussed in depth about the fire resistance of UHPFRC.
September 25, 2014, in the morning, under the leadership of research committee member Cao Zhangbin, Professor Chen Baochun and the others visited the Korea Institute of Construction Technology. Research committee member Cao Zhangbin presented to Chen Baochun and others the research of UHPFRC and corresponding engineering applications, then they visited the research laboratory.
Through this international conferences and visits, there are the following ideas for future work: Ultra High Performance Fiber Reinforced Concrete has great value in engineering, and the UHPFRC should continue to be the main object of study in future research; there still are many vacancies and inadequate in basic research and engineering applications of UHPFRC in China, and it should learn research progress abroad, to further deepen the UHPFRC’s study of basic performance and engineering application; it should write about the related testing and application specification of UHPFRC.
