Recently, to further advance the internationalization of the college, deepen cross-border educational cooperation and joint talent training, and expand the scope of overseas educational exchanges, a five-member delegation from the College of Civil Engineering, including Yuan Huihui, Zhang Chao, Zhang Dong, Shi Jingkang and Wei Xuan, embarked on a special international exchange visit to Nepal. The delegation successfully completed a series of tasks such as inter-university cooperation seminars and re-examinations for overseas student applicants, and returned to Fuzhou smoothly on June 22.
The college delegation arrived in Kathmandu, Nepal, on the evening of June 19 local time, officially kicking off the transnational exchange program. On the morning of June 20, with the assistance and support of Dr. Kshitij Charan Shrestha, contact person for the Master’s Program in Structural Engineering at the Institute of Engineering, Tribhuvan University, the delegation finished pre-work preparations in an orderly manner, including arranging interview venues, refining re-examination procedures and preparing supplies, laying a solid foundation for the subsequent overseas admission re-examinations.
On the afternoon of June 20, the delegation paid a visit to Kantipur International College (KIC), the top-ranked private college in Nepal, for exchange seminars. Affiliated with Purbanchal University and founded in 2000, KIC boasts a comprehensive disciplinary system covering core fields including management, engineering and law, ranking first among all private higher education institutions in Nepal in overall school-running strength. During the forum, the delegation held in-depth discussions with Professor Jiba Raj Pokharel, person-in-charge of the Engineering School of KIC, and other relevant university staff. Both sides elaborated on their respective institutional characteristics, disciplinary development, talent training and international cooperation, and conducted in-depth discussions on cooperation in civil engineering, faculty and student exchanges, and joint talent training. A college-level cooperation agreement was formally signed during the meeting. This signing has effectively expanded the college’s network of partner universities in Nepal and established a new platform for educational exchanges in civil engineering between China and Nepal.
On June 21, the delegation successfully conducted re-examinations for Nepalese applicants to the full-time professional master’s program in Civil Engineering of our college in the meeting room of the Department of Civil Engineering at the Pulchowk Campus, Institute of Engineering, Tribhuvan University. A total of 12 Nepalese applicants took part in the re-examinations. In strict accordance with admission criteria and procedures, the interview panel carefully listened to each applicant’s personal presentation and conducted comprehensive and rigorous assessments covering multiple dimensions including educational background, academic expertise, English communication proficiency and overall comprehensive quality. All tasks of this overseas re-examination were completed with guaranteed quality and quantity, laying a solid foundation for the college to recruit high-quality international students and advance the development of its international talent training system.
The delegation’s visit and exchange program in Nepal featured a tight schedule and fruitful outcomes. This trip represents a key initiative of the college to actively implement its internationalization strategy, as well as a vivid practice for deepening engineering education exchanges, academic communication and joint talent cultivation between China and Nepal. Moving forward, the College of Civil Engineering will continue to leverage resources from overseas partner institutions to deepen transnational educational cooperation, expand postgraduate admission channels, and elevate the college’s international influence and the internationalized level of talent training.
