The 11th International Conference on Arch Bridges (Arch 2025) was held in Genoa, Italy, from September 30 to October 3, 2025. The conference was hosted by the Permanent Scientific Committee of the International Conference on Arch Bridges (PSC-iCAB) and the University of Genoa, Italy. As the most influential academic event in the international arch bridge community, this conference brought together over 160 experts, scholars, engineers, and industry representatives from 16 countries and regions worldwide to jointly explore the inheritance, innovation, and future development directions of arch bridge technologies.
Researcher Junping Liu from our college led a team to attend the conference and delivered an invited keynote report entitled “Concrete-Filled Steel Tube Technology for Long-Span Arch Bridges: A Typical Chinese Technology”. In the report, he introduced China’s original concrete-filled steel tube arch bridge technology and concrete-filled steel tube Melan arch technology to foreign experts and scholars, which was warmly received by the participants. Meanwhile, doctoral students Fuyun He, Qian Yang, and Yitu Yang, who accompanied the team, delivered presentations at the parallel sessions respectively, with their reports titled “Ultimate Bearing Capacity of CFST Melan Arch”, “Numerical Analysis of Bearing Capacity for Steel Tube-Reinforced Concrete (STRC) Short Columns Incorporating Double Initial Stresses”, and “Numerical Analysis of a Steel Truss Web-UHPC Composite Arch Bridge Considering Construction Stages”.

The International Conference on Arch Bridges has been held every three years since 1995, and 11 sessions have been held so far. Among these, China has hosted two sessions—the 6th session in 2010 and the 10th session in 2023—both organized by our college. As the host institution for the Secretariat of the Permanent Scientific Committee of the International Conference on Arch Bridges (PSC-iCAB), our college enjoys considerable influence and high visibility in the international arch bridge community. During the conference, Researcher Liu Junping participated in the working meeting as a representative of PSC-iCAB.
By participating in this academic conference, the team conducted in-depth exchanges with international counterparts, promoted China’s advanced arch bridge construction technologies, and fully demonstrated the college’s research achievements and innovative technologies in concrete-filled steel tube arch bridges and concrete arch bridges, which received widespread attention and high recognition. Meanwhile, it has also expanded the college’s influence in the international arch bridge community and enhanced the university’s reputation. This holds great significance for strengthening the college’s international characteristics, advancing discipline development, promoting talent cultivation, and boosting its international prestige.
