On the morning of January 24th, the College of Civil Engineering, Fuzhou University, held an academic lecture themed “In-depth Integration of Safety and Emergency Engineering with Civil Engineering: Cutting-edge Progress and Future Outlook” in the multi-functional hall on the first floor. Professor Liu Chunlin from Singapore Case Protection Technology Group was invited as the speaker, and representatives of teachers and students from the college attended to exchange ideas.

Professor Liu Chunlin is the founder of Singapore Case Protection Technology Group and the founding president of the Tsinghua University Alumni Association in Singapore. He also serves as the foreign co-dean of the International Joint Research Institute for Urban Safety Planning and Management along the Maritime Silk Road at Fuzhou University. With interdisciplinary academic backgrounds including a Bachelor’s degree in Structural Engineering from Tsinghua University, a Master’s degree in Business Administration from the National University of Singapore, and a Doctoral degree in Structural Engineering (focused on blast resistance) from Tongji University, he is a world-renowned international safety protection expert. He has long been engaged in scientific research and practical work in fields such as engineering safety, blast protection, anti-terrorism security, and protective technologies. He has led multiple major international projects and published a number of high-quality academic papers.

During the lecture, focusing on the core theme of “Safety and Emergency Assessment and Design” and combining the global security situation, Professor Liu Chunlin conducted an in-depth analysis of key content including the protection of critical infrastructure assets, threat identification and risk assessment, and optimized design of protective measures. He also shared emergency response strategies for addressing unexpected incidents. The report introduced application cases of Singapore’s “Infrastructure Protection Act” and, combined with China’s urban construction practices, proposed efficient and cost-effective protective design ideas and solutions, providing a cutting-edge perspective for the interdisciplinary integration of civil engineering and safety emergency fields.

This lecture has built an international academic exchange platform, helped teachers and students broaden their professional horizons in the field of safety and emergency engineering, and provided new ideas for the integration of production, education and research in related disciplines.
