From Media Convergence Center / On the eve of the Lunar New Year, Premier Qiang Li of the State Council held a symposium and exchanged views with representatives of foreign experts who have received the 2025 Chinese Government Friendship Award and those working in China at the Great Hall of the People on the afternoon of February 13. Vice Premier Xuexiang Ding was present The State Council. Professor Bruno Briseghella from the College of Civil Engineering, Fuzhou University, was invited to attend the meeting as a representative of foreign experts working in China.

Premier Qiang Li extended Spring Festival greetings and sincere regards to foreign experts, thanked them for their long-term care and support for China’s modernization drive, and earnestly listened to their opinions and suggestions on China’s development and government work.

Professor Bruno Briseghella
Professor Bruno Briseghella is a renowned Italian expert in bridge engineering. He is currently a Professor at the School of Civil Engineering, Fuzhou University, and a national-level high-caliber talent. He has received the Chinese Government Friendship Award, the International Science and Technology Cooperation Award of the People’s Republic of China, and the title of “Foreign Teachers in China” Person of the Year, among other honors.
Professor Bruno Briseghella is currently President of the International Association for Jointless Bridges and former Chair of the Permanent Scientific Committee of the International Conference on Concrete Arch Bridges. He has published more than 190 academic papers and authored 8 monographs in both Chinese and English, including Jointless Bridges. He has been granted over 10 national patents and undertaken nearly 20 European research projects and projects funded by the National Natural Science Foundation of China. He is a candidate for Member of the Academia Europaea (2024) and Member of the Mexican Academy of Engineering (2025). Professor Briseghella’s achievements have been applied to more than 100 long‑span and major bridges, including the longest jointless bridge in the world. He has led the establishment of in‑depth cooperative relations with universities in 25 countries participating in the Belt and Road Initiative, promoting advanced civil engineering technologies from China to these countries. He has innovated an international talent training model at Fuzhou University and established four overseas teaching and practice bases, for which he was awarded the Special Prize of Fujian Provincial Teaching Achievement Award.
